For twenty years, the staff of Franchise Manuals is dedicated to providing you with a professional Franchise Operations Manual at an affordable cost, in as little as 90 days. We have worked with a variety of businesses, from startups to established brands and we are always excited to discuss your next project.

While we could bore you with cool resumes that probably only impress our moms, we’ve found, working with so many clients, it’s the uniqueness of their lives and businesses that we enjoy and that creates close bonds.  If you are interested, let us know, and we can share our education and experience, but here, we each share what we believe are ten interesting facts about us.

Kit Vinson

  2. In 2015 I created a podcast specifically for startup franchisors
  3. I would dye my hair FranMan blue if I knew how to.
  4. I attended London School of Economics for a summer session
  5. I speak Spanish pretty darn well and I married a lady from Mexico
  6. I stood on the rim of an active volcano in Guatemala
  7. I love barbershop quartet music
  8. I have one tattoo
  9. I have ridden on top of an oil pumping unit
  10. I have jumped out of a perfectly good airplane with a parachute

Kit is also the host of an industry specific podcast called The Franchise Manual Podcast. Using this vehicle, Kit is creating a resource library for start-up and emerging franchisors, to help them as they travel down the road of franchising. His podcast has been downloaded by listeners across the U.S., as well as 42 countries.

Gary Fieldsend

  1. I have been involved in marketing and market research since graduating from Texas Tech in 1992.
  2. I have created magazine ads that have been in national cooking magazines and Good Housekeeping.
  3. I was Chuck E. Cheese in a national ad campaign. (Basically, I was in the suit because the other guy called in sick.)
  4. I enjoy live music, and I have seen over 200 concerts.
  5. I have been writing franchise manuals since 2006.
  6. I love las Vegas and Las Vegas history and have a moderate casino artifact collection.
  7. I spent ten years in television research and consulting and have lots of fun focus group stories.
  8. I have known Kit since middle school and have lots of fun Kit stories.
  9. As much as I love to travel, I have yet to spend time in Europe, Asia, or Australia. (I did finance a student trip to Europe!)
  10. I’m married to Darla, who splits her time between working for FranMan and Southwest Airlines.

Paula Brown

  1. Paula is a native of nowhere. She has lived in Tennessee, Florida, New Jersey, Texas, Georgia, and possibly some places she has catalogued with other remnants of repressed and forgotten childhood trauma. She currently resides in the Nashville area – home of bachelorette parties, hot chicken, over-priced real estate, broken dreams, pollen, mosquitos, and humidity.
  2. As a Senior Production Specialist at FranMan, she has produced and written manuals longer than anyone else here besides Kit and Gary. That’s it. But we thought that was a cooler title. Paula has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Tennessee and a background in the corporate world of franchising (small world!).
  3. Paula was an award-winning newspaper columnist. (For those of you that are younger than 25, newspapers were a printed edition of scrolling various social media outlets, but you didn’t have to click on the article, it was just there, printed on paper, and delivered to your home. They were also used for packing materials and lining bird cages. They no longer exist.) (For those of you that are younger than 25, articles were a written form of conveying information via a media source. They no longer exist.)
  4. According to her husband of nearly 23 years, she loved her old dog (Winnie the boxer who hated everyone and everything besides Paula and food – God rest her soul) more than she loved him. Honorable mention: she also has two amazing human children that are teenagers and a new dog that is a Muppet.
  5. Paula loves to cook but isn’t much of a baker. If you need dinner, hit her up. If you need a cake, consider a birthday lasagna instead. When you think about it, a lasagna is just a savory, hot cake.
  6. Rocky Top will always be home sweet home to Paula. Nearly everything she owns is orange and is incredibly obnoxious about it. She went to UT with Peyton Manning and will tell you about it even though nobody cares and they never once spoke.
  7. Doing nothing is probably her favorite hobby (when she’s not producing world-class franchise operations manuals). She enjoys murder shows on several streaming services and can kill an astonishingly large amount of time watching TikToks or sleeping.
  8. In a shocking twist that nobody really understands, she also loves to travel and can often be found doing nothing in other cities, states, and countries. Affectionally known as “MeeMaw” to her co-workers, you can always count on her to leave anything early.
  9. In elementary school she was eliminated in the final round of the spelling bee with the word TROUSERS. If you have a manual about pants, perhaps you should seek out a different writer on the team, even though she insists she knows how to spell TROUSERS, she was just nervous and forgot the U.
  10. Please don’t eat a lot of loud snacks during your site visit.
